Capital University is pleased to announce its Dean's List honorees for spring 2019 semester.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top twenty percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2018-19 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic excellence.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2018-19 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

A total of 11,406 students enrolled during the 2019 spring term at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

The University of Alabama awarded some 5,716 degrees during its spring commencement May 3-5. The dean's list for the spring 2019 semester at the University of Findlay has been announced.

University of Findlay graduates were recognized for earning degrees from the University of Findlay for the academic year 2018 - 2019.

More than 280 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program for summer 2019. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Slippery Rock University has announced its dean's list for the spring 2019 semester. The dean's list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.

Trumpeter, Charlie Gately of Hamilton, Ohio won second place ($5,000) in the Collegiate Instrumental category of the 2019 Nancy F. Walker Memorial Scholarship Competition. A junior at Miami University Oxford, his teacher is Doug Lindsay. Gately will attend the Chautauqua Institute this summer and pursue a Master's degree in performance. He aspires to be a professional musician and trumpet teacher. To expand its longtime mission to advance the careers of young instrumentalists and singers, Matinee Musicale, a non-profit organization, organizes an annual competition for area high school and college juniors and seniors. A total of fifty students participated this year. Judging the instrumental competitors were Carmon DeLeone (Music Director of Cincinnati Ballet), Dr. Polina Bespalko (Professor and Coordinator of Keyboard area at Xavier University) and Dale Swisher (retired director of both the Xavier University Chamber Orchestra and the Anderson High School Orchestra). Gately, along with the other top scholarship recipients in each category, will perform at the Matinee Musicale Scholarship Winners Recital & Luncheon at the Greenacres Arts Center.

Numerous Mount St. Joseph University student-athletes were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, an honorary college athletic society which recognizes high academic achievement, exemplary character, and positive attitude in sport letter winners at the collegiate level. Inductees into Chi Alpha Sigma exhibit hard work and success both in the classroom and on the field. They have received a varsity letter in their sport, achieved junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full-time semester, and earned a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average. These students were honored during the Mount's 2019 Celebration of Teaching and Learning, held this past April.

Students at the University of Findlay recently participated in the annual Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity. Held on campus, undergraduate and graduate students were given the opportunity to share their research, creativity, and professional learning experiences with the University and community.

The University of Alabama has inducted a new group of students into its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Founded on Dec. 5, 1776, The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. It has chapters at 286 colleges and universities in the United States, 50 alumni associations, and more than half a million members worldwide. Noteworthy members include 17 U.S. presidents, 39 justices of the Supreme Court of the United States and more than 130 Nobel laureates. The mission of The Phi Beta Kappa Society is to champion education in the liberal arts and sciences, foster freedom of thought, and recognize academic excellence. UA's chapter was founded in 1851. Students are elected to membership on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

Miami University students awarded the President's Distinguished Service Award.

The 300th Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was installed and over 35 business students were initiated on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Capital University. Capital's Psi Omega Chapter began as a colony in September 2017 when students and faculty worked to merge many department student organizations into a cross-disciplinary student organization that would offer leadership, professional development, service and social activity. East Central RVP James Kuhn says of the new chapter, "They have continually shown their commitment to not only being active on the campus of Capital University, but becoming active members of the Fraternity overall. They recently sent fourteen members, including their advisor, to the most recent LEAD School in Cleveland and surprised many with their astounding attendance at the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter's most recent Central Office Open House with around thirty attendees. This illustrates the kind of enthusiasm needed to charter a successful chapter that contributes to the overall welfare of Delta Sigma Pi and its members." Delta Sigma Pi is the nation's leading co-ed professional business fraternity, with a commitment to equipping members throughout their careers to make a greater impact in their business, civic, and personal lives.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 3,300 students for excellence in academics on the Fall 2018 Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Mount St. Joseph University congratulates the students named to the Fall 2018 Dean's List. The Dean's List recognizes undergraduate students who earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher while enrolled in six hours or more of course work for a letter grade (excluding pass/fail courses).

The following students earned a position on the University of Evansville Dean's List for academic achievements during the Fall Semester 2018.

Mount St. Joseph University announced that several student-athletes from the men's and women's soccer teams have been named to the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC List. In order to be selected for this honor, students must be varsity athletes and have at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA. The Academic All-HCAC List is named after the HCAC's first commissioner, Tom Bohlsen, who served from 1998 to 2008. The HCAC (Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) recognizes student-athletes with outstanding performance both in the classroom and on the field. A total of 26 Mount St. Joseph University student-athletes were recognized with the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-Conference Award for the fall 2018 season.
